Imagine being placed on a human catapult. Once released your destination will be straight into a huge pit of fire. Can you even think rationally at this point? Can anything else be on your mind besides death? When Prophet Ibrahim a.s was placed on a catapult and was just a few seconds from hitting fire. Angle Jibril came to his rescue. However, Prophet Ibrahim rejected his help saying, “If help is to come from you then I don’t want it. But if it is from Allah, then I want it. After saying this, Prophet Ibrahim recited:
Hasbunallah Wani’mal Wakil. “Allah (Alone) is sufficient for us, and he is the best disposer of affairs (for us).”
Ibrahim a.s placed his complete trust in Allah. He knew that Allah alone could help him. He showed taqwa even during the most difficult moment. Allah then made the fire cool, safe, and peaceful for Ibrahim a.s. I say this as a reminder to myself before anybody else. Turn to Allah when the going gets tough. For there is no greater refuge than Allah, he is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. He is the One who could helps us find peace, coolness, and safety when life throws us into a fire, so to speak.

I’m talking about true submission. Intellectual, physical, and spiritual submission. The kind of submission that frees you from all types of chains. The sense of submission where we hear and we obey. Submission in which the act of believing isn’t enough. Actions need to be done. Submission in which the soul submits not to desires but to the One and only Allah swt.
You’re wrong the moment when you make a mortal being the center of your world. Time is fleeting and cycles occure. Who you thought you loved and risen up high, can be the one who pulls you down. Know that Allah swt is the only one worthy of being the center of your world. He is the Everlasting, Sustainer of all.
It never ceases to amaze me how ungrateful we are to Allah’s blessings, and how much He continues to give us despite our ungratefulness.
O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed - that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind. That is because Allah is the Truth and because He gives life to the dead and because He is over all things competent.
Surah al-Hajj
(22:5-6)
